Another World is a self-initiated geometric pattern collection and digital animation series. It came from a personal place: a period when my creative practice had gone quiet, colour had gone, momentum had gone, and I needed something to pull me back. The work that came out of that period became some of the most direct expression of who I am as an artist.
The collection draws from Japanese textile tradition, African visual heritage, and digital animation, pulling them into something new. It is partly in conversation with Takashi Murakami, an artist who holds traditional Japanese visual culture and contemporary digital art in the same hand without either cancelling the other out. That ability to be rooted and free simultaneously, drawing from multiple cultural lineages at once, is what I was working towards. Pattern as emotional language. Colour and geometry as a way of saying something that prose cannot.
The animated works are where the collection opens up. Bending pixels, stretching geometry into time, the animations are where pattern becomes behaviour, where the design stops being an object and starts being something you watch. That shift changed how I think about what a visual system can do, and it has stayed with me in every moving image project since.
